Irena Stenner

An exhibition of new paintings by Irena Stenner which explore a spectrum of time and space, distilling the past, present and future into landscapes of an inner world.

Irena moved to NZ 16 years ago after obtaining a degree in art therapy/fine arts in Germany. After exploring mythological themes and medieval painting styles for several years, Irena has rediscovered abstract painting and is experimenting with colour form and composition.

Her latest series of work is a sometimes serious, sometimes humorous approach to the exploration of inner and outer worlds, other dimensions, beings and technology and allows for the painting process to unfold with complete freedom. She finds inspiration through dream imagery and dipping into the vast pool of collective symbolism we all share.  She enjoys the alluring sense of attraction to unknown worlds, not accessible through our intellect.

Her art making practice involves printmaking and painting, mainly with acrylics and sometimes oils.
