into the wild

RICHARD HOPKINS -   New Photography

November 22 – December20

This exhibition of new works takes the viewer along as an explorer companion to remote places – from the Auckland Islands to Aotuhia. Places that remain familiar to our eye but are striking in their stark isolation.

Places which are easy to get lost in and yet never be a part of. This collection of expansive landscapes is contrasted within this exhibition by far more intimate portraits of wildlife. The seabird studies explore the space between us, our land and our sea. Spending extensive periods of time at sea, Hopkins felt a strong connection with their presence "out there." He identifies seabirds as "..a link to the land, while we are in the ocean"  - a link to home when home is far away. Hopkins expresses a strong connection with our surrounding land and sea scapes.

Hopkins has exhibited in a number of group exhibitions and this is his second solo exhibiton. Limited edition prints available.
