ROBIN VA'AULI - New Paintings
Progression of works II October 4 - 22
Robins subject matter and style is heavily influenced by comic book illustrations and 6o's Pop Art.
While his figurative compositions display a good grasp of human anatomy, and warm colour,
he also, leans towards eastern philosophy and inner spirituality, as a source of inspiration.
This is Robins first solo exhibition at LeSA Gallery and he is based in Melbourne

DEBORAH HOPE September 6th - 25th
Hoki Ki Te kainga The Return Home
This exhibitionis Deborahs first solo showing @ LeSA Gallery.
Deborah considers the spirituality of Maori art to reside within the sea, mountains, rivers, lakes, hills, forest and the sky. She spent several years living with her grandparents in Wairoa when she was exposed to the teachings of Tikanga Maori, the Waiau river, Tameterangi marae and the surroundings valleys.
Her new body of work celebrates her return home ,to live in Wairoa.

Ruth Green Cole / Annie Sandano
Kiiwianarama Panorama brought together two dynamic and unique artists, interpretting their own identity of the New Zealand image.
Ruth Green Cole takes New Zealand cultural objects and re-contextualises them into a contemporary interpretation of traditional maori textiles.
Her art practise is multidisiplinary, merging elements of hand made print, paper construction, weaving and installation.
Annie Sandano uses familar New Zealand symbols in refreslingly modern and lively compositions. Her vivid and bold images are imbued with a sense of fun and playfulness, and bring to the foreground a clean and uncomplicated use of traditional wood cut printing techniques.
