Deborah considers the spirituality of Maori art to reside within the sea, mountains, rivers, lakes, hills, forest and the sky. She spent several years living with her grandparents in Wairoa when she was exposed to the teachings of Tikanga Maori, the Waiau river, Tameterangi marae and the surroundings valleys.

Her new body of work celebrates her return home ,to live in Wairoa.
