Born 1947, at Petone, Aotearoa - New Zealand.
I commenced woodcarving in 1971 when I moved to a secluded bush valley at Waiotemarama, South Hokianga, where I still live. Initially I made wooden bowls and platters, then diversified into bone carvings, chair making and relief sculpture.
In 1987 l started wood engraving on end grain Kauri blocks. The tools used are hand held gravers, printing on Arches 88 paper with a screw press. In 1993 I began multi-block engravings to take the monochrome element of light into the spectrums of colour. Present themes are the sculptural forms of two Northland coastlines lying on their planes of light and water, the texture of the bush, remnant volcanic rock forms, the flow of the wind over the sky and skeletal structures in involuntry motion.
