Hoki Ki Te kainga The Return Home
This exhibitionis Deborahs first solo showing @ LeSA Gallery.
Deborah considers the spirituality of Maori art to reside within the sea, mountains, rivers, lakes, hills, forest and the sky. She spent several years living with her grandparents in Wairoa when she was exposed to the teachings of Tikanga Maori, the Waiau river, Tameterangi marae and the surroundings valleys.
Her new body of work celebrates her return home ,to live in Wairoa.

Ruth Green Cole / Annie Sandano
Kiiwianarama Panorama brought together two dynamic and unique artists, interpretting their own identity of the New Zealand image.
Ruth Green Cole takes New Zealand cultural objects and re-contextualises them into a contemporary interpretation of traditional maori textiles.
Her art practise is multidisiplinary, merging elements of hand made print, paper construction, weaving and installation.
Annie Sandano uses familar New Zealand symbols in refreslingly modern and lively compositions. Her vivid and bold images are imbued with a sense of fun and playfulness, and bring to the foreground a clean and uncomplicated use of traditional wood cut printing techniques.

Andrea Mae Miller is a New Zealand artist working predominantly as a Fine Art Printmaker. Born in Whangarei in 1980, she grew up living at the beach on Northland's beautiful Tutukaka coast. Andrea obtained her Bachelor of Fine Arts from Otago Polytechnic in 2002 and after graduation established her studio "St Peter's Thumb" in Petone. In 2006 she spent a year living and working in Copenhagen, Denmark, taking time to explore the other side of the world, and to practise being a stranger. Andrea returned to NZ in May 2007, setting up "St Peter's Thumb" again, this time in Eastbourne, Lower Hutt.
